Future Lady Warriors Basketball is not an official organization. It is a group of coaches, players, and parents with an interest in basketball. The program is designed as a feeder program for St. Charles West High School (St. Charles, Missouri). It is for girls that have a goal of playing high school basketball and are willing to make the commitment that it takes. We currently have around seventy girls in the program in grades four through eight.

The goal of the program is to teach solid individual basketball fundamentals. Coaches try to win, but the growth of individuals comes first. The principles of fair play and sportsmanship are taught as an important part of the game. Our motto is “play hard, play smart, and have fun.”

Depending on the individual coaches, the program provides opportunities for basketball nearly year-round. Teams play in “club” leagues formed by various individuals and organizations. Leagues we have played in include IABBO Junior GAC, St. Charles County YMCA, Parkway South, Marquette CNR, and The Playing Field. We also provide an informal league in the summer for the older girls in the program. In this league, the players are divided into teams and play each other. For summer league information, you can contact Tom Prigge at twprigge@sbcglobal.net. Some teams also compete in tournaments in the St. Charles, St. Louis, and Metro East area.

Coaches in the program are all volunteers. Most girls enter the program as part of a team. Typically, a parent with a daughter in the S. C. West district decides to coach and recruits enough players to make a team. Occasionally, there are openings on existing teams. This may be due to players leaving the program or because a team wants to expand. We try to have a maximum of nine or ten players for any one game so that everyone can get a reasonable amount of playing time.

There is currently no overall coordinator for the program. If you are interested in checking on team openings for an individual, contact the coach at the particular grade level. If you are interested in bringing a team into the program, contact a coach at or near the grade level of your team. Again, the program is for girls that expect to attend St. Charles West High School.
